What can we honestly say about hair and scalp?
Direct research showing that ordinary sauna use damages hair or scalp tissue is lacking. The available hair studies examine isolated hair fibres under controlled heating conditions—not people using saunas.
Laboratory research shows that heat can temporarily alter hair’s moisture content and mechanical properties, while sufficiently high temperatures can cause irreversible structural changes. Those experiments do not directly reproduce the temperature, humidity or exposure pattern of normal sauna use.
Hot, dry sauna air can be harsh on hair and uncomfortable on the scalp. Dense felt creates a thermal buffer between your head and the hottest air in the room, helping reduce direct heat exposure and making the heat around your head feel less intense.
REASONABLE CLAIM
An insulating layer buffers the head from the hottest
surrounding air.
NOT PROVEN
Preventing hair loss, treating scalp disease or making
unsafe heat exposure safe.
